Low Carbon Energy Assessors (LCEA) Ltd, known to many as Nottingham’s leading EPC provider carried out the Commercial Energy Performances Certificates and Energy Auditing / Surveying Services for the prestigious 357,000ft2 mixed use development situated on the waterfront in Nottingham’s City Centre.
This high quality development is adjacent to Nottingham’s Midland Mainline station, at the southern gateway to the City Centre. Waterfront Plaza occupies one of the most prominent and accessible positions within the East Midlands’ regional capital.
The scheme comprised of 264 bedroom Jurys Inn Hotel, 107 residential apartments, 5 waterside bars/restaurants and the 9 storey office building surrounding a landscaped courtyard.
LCEA Ltd really enjoyed working on the Waterfront development as it was quite a unique project due to Nottingham’s Green Energy Centre which provides hot water from the Eastcroft incinerator where they covert heat into electricity and hot water. Electricity is supplied to major customers using dedicated cabling. Hot water is distributed to customers over an extensive pipe network that covers much of the city centre.
The main heating source at the Waterfront is via the Green Energy Centre, which provides the heat source to the heat exchangers at the Waterfront development rather than having separate boilers for each building.
The Eastcroft incinerator also supplies the National Ice Arena, the Broadmarsh and Victoria shopping centres, the Inland Revenue offices beside the canal, Capital One’s UK headquarters and Nottingham Trent University.
If energy were not recovered from Nottingham’s waste, fossil fuels would be burnt and more land would be required for landfill sites.
